WHAT IS THE GALACTIC SHOOTOUT?

The Galactic Shootout is a precision short-to-long range shooting event located in Roswell, New Mexico presented by Zia Precision. This shooting challenge will provide an event to Southeast New Mexico where there is a lack of precision shooting events. 2” circular target at 200 yards

4” circular target at 400 yards

6” circular target at 600 yards

8” circular target at 800 yards

10” circular target at 1,000 yards

BOUNS 5” circular target at 1,000 yards

BONUS 12” alien head target at 1,200 yards

HOW IS THE CHALLENGE FORMATTED?

Shooters will have 5 minutes and 10 rounds of ammo to complete the challenge. The main challenge is to shoot the 2”, 4”, 6”, 8”, and the 10” targets. Shooters will have two shot opportunities at each target. If the shooter makes a first round impact then they will move on to the next target. If a shooter does not make an impact on a target within two shots then they must move on to the next target. There will be a BONUS 5” target at 1,000 yards that a shooter may use any remaining time and rounds of ammo on for extra points. 

HOW DOES THE POINT SYSTEM WORK?

1st round impacts on the 2”, 4”, 6”, 8”, and the 10” targets are worth 2 points. 2nd round impacts on the 2”, 4”, 6”, 8”, and the 10” targets are worth 1 point. No impact on the 2”, 4”, 6”, 8”, and the 10” targets are worth 0 points. Every impact on the BONUS 5” target is worth 5 points. Shooters must complete shooting at the 2”, 4”, 6”, 8”, and 10” targets before shooting at the BONUS 5” target. A shooter’s maximum points will be 35 points.

WHAT IS THE BONUS 12” ALIEN HEAD TARGET ABOUT?

For a fee, a shooter may take additional shots at the BONUS 12” alien head target at 1,200 yards ONLY after they have completed the main challenge. An impact on the 12” alien head target at 1,200 yards will earn the shooter a FREE SUPPRESSOR!

WILL THERE BE A FINALE?

Yes, there will be a finale. A finale will be held in January 2026 hosting 20 of the highest scoring shooters from 2025. The highest scoring shooter from each monthly event automatically makes the finale. The finale grand winner will win a fully custom built 7 PRC hunting rifle!

FEES AND ENTRY

There will be a $75.00 non-refundable entry fee that must be paid in advance of the event. There will also be a $25.00 fee for any shooter wanting to take a shot at the 12” alien head.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Shooters will be allowed to use tools such as Kestrels, range finders, dope cards, and ballistic apps. Shooters may also choose to shoot from the prone position, off a tripod, off a sled, or a table if they desire. This event is limited to 30 caliber rifles or lower. Shooters must supply their own rifles, tools, equipment, and accessories. We want shooters to be successful! Shooters must fill out a safety and film waiver upon arrival at each event. There will be parts of these events that are photographed and recorded and posted to social media outlets. Safety and fun are the main priorities for The Galactic Shootout so there will be a safety brief before each event.
